Fat Ticker Friday (hellooooo fudge)

OK, so I gained 3 pounds on staycation.

Poop.

But who's counting really.

I spent the week in detox. Because as much as I indulged in said fudge, mint-chocolate-chip ice cream with chocolate sprinkles (on a cone), sangria, wheat beer at the Irish pub (my favorite), pizza(s), oh I'm losing count here, all that yummy/slash/yucky food made me feel like a sluggish heap by the end of the week. So back on the wagon it is, with the occasional indulgence, because I don't believe in total elimination, and I have lost 2 1/2 of my staycation pounds.

Also, I'm hardcore on the 10k training now, baby. I had some really lovely runs this week and I was basking in the glory that is still not wanting to completely die after a 2 1/2 mile run. But Sundays in the coming weeks will be the real test of how much I love/slash/hate running because those will be 3, 4, 5, and 6 milers (every other week or so the Sunday miles climb according to my training schedule).

It's a little scary to think about. I guess I will have to think about it in terms of the 5k program I did. Back when 2 1/2 or 3 miles scared the pants off me. If I keep going, there will be a time where I don't want to completely die after a 6 mile run. Can you believe that? I can't believe that running regularly will eventually do that for me! (That's what consistency does, thanks MizFit!) That's total motivation in a bottle!

I can just picture me (by the way, I'm staring off into space right here and that dream cloud has popped up over my right shoulder) running across the 10k finish line on Thanksgiving Day (and a little skinnier because I can't possibly not lose weight with this training schedule -- it's a mathematical certainty that I will and must) and then coming home to the turkey that's been roasting in my oven while I was running and my lovely tablescape that I prepared the night before because I have this thing about making centerpieces and having a pretty Thanksgiving table with name cards and folded napkins and china, the whole thing (and then I take pictures). If I believed in The Secret, I would be totally Secreting in a successful 10k right now. And then all my family would come over and we'd eat. (It all comes back to that, doesn't it!)

  2. I don't have time for a fat ticker Friday this week due to Hubs surgery/convalescence, but I wanted to say that I blew the whole week and won't even get on the scale. BAD ME:( But I made a pact with myself to get back in gear today.

  3. Ouch! I'm alone (with baby) this week so the scale is staying at the same place - interesting how that works.

    Have fun on your runs! I wish I could get there again, but I have lots of excuses!

  4. i have actually started losing weight AFTER the summer of me contest LOL i have been part of a blogger weight loss group for almost 2 months now...they keep me in check. i finally decided to get serious about the weight loss. i am down about 2 pounds or so since i weighed in for fat ticker friday. 2 pounds away from my first weight loss goal of 210. yippeee!! :)

  5. I love that you are so reasonable about not doing total elimination. I feel the same. In addition to my weekly free day, once in awhile events line up, such as vacation or people visiting (that's happening here next week), when I'm totally OK with going off the path to enjoy those times and all the yumminess that comes with them. This is a life thing for me, not a diet thing, and there has to be balance, as long as I'm honest with myself and determined to get right back on track once the delicious excuse is done. Sounds like you can do the same, and I'm thrilled for you! I do wish that I could do the running thing, but I'll just run vicariously on your ankles. ;)

  6. I am still up from last week but I'm back on track and the scale is moving in the right direction again. Working on another 15 pounds by mid September.

  7. you can't picture going over the finish line of a 10K? i totally see you doing it! you are one of the most motivated, determined women that i know. seriously.
    "what the mind can conceive the body can acheive" or something like that right?
    we are going to NJ today for vaction. fudge galoree. im scared.

  8. Hi there...I did my first weigh Saturday which is why I am a bit late adding to this. All I can say is "Oh my, I have a lot of work to do!" I am committed finally! I signed up to renew my gym membership and am leaving to go to a fitcamp where you get "Biggest Loser Style Workouts" nutritional advice and two weeks of healthy meals so, ready or not, its full speed ahead! I have a long weight/way to go before I reach my goals and I will need a strict few months and then begin the eating better/healthier sio this behavior will become a lifestyle change. I lost 65 pounds a long time ago and kept it off by doing exactly what I mentioned. I am going to put the ticker in my blog this week. Thanks for keeping me accountable.

  9. I'd take your staycation weight gain over mine anyday. I let loose big time on vacation and now I can't seem to get it off.

    And um, my clothes don't fit!!!
